Our response to COVID-19

We know that COVID-19 has hit our community in an unprecedented way, and we are encouraging those in the refugee community to utilize the resources available to them. Our attorneys are still available for legal consultations via teleconferencing, and we are hoping that we can return to in-person consultations in the near future. However, we want to do even more.

With the economic uncertainty caused by the pandemic, we have seen an increase in refugees reporting difficulties paying for their rent or mortgage. We want to provide even more assistance than just legal consultations to navigate these difficult situations That is why the Refugee Justice League is partnering with SixFifty to help refugees seeking eviction relief and mortgage forbearance relief provided by the CARES Act (COVID-19).

These applications can easily be navigated by the refugee applicant alone or with the help of a family member, friend, social worker, or counselor.  The web-based programs, after leading applicants through a series of questions, generates a formal, customized qualification correspondence ready for printing and mailing.

They are offered as a public service free of charge.

These tools afford hard working refugees relief from financial distress and anxiety.
